Features and application

The main method of improving the power factor (cosφ) is to compensate for reactive power by installing capacitor banks

A capacitor bank is a source of reactive inductive power and improves the power factor from the point where it is installed right back to the power source

The capacitor bank is housed in a powder-coated steel cabinet, the dimensions of which depend on the power rating

The cabinet is fitted with ventilation grilles with filters, which ensure natural air circulation inside the battery and prevent contaminants from entering the battery

The individual stages of the capacitor bank are connected to busbars selected to match the power rating via switch disconnectors fitted with fuse links and contactors that connect the capacitors to the mains

A LOVATO Electric DCRL-type electronic reactive power controller is mounted on the capacitor bank door, along with a 4G10 cam switch that provides the power supply for the controller

Options

APC BK capacitor banks are manufactured in three versions:

  • basic
  • with compensation stage activation control
  • with contactor fault monitoring (in the event of main contacts sticking)
