The BELplus TWNR unit is a digital transformer differential protection device for power transformers in MV switchgear. It can be used for both two-winding and three-winding transformers with typical connection groups, e.g. Yd5, Yd11, Yd5d5, Yd11d11, Yy0, etc. The device does not require the use of balancing transformers. The matching of the primary and secondary currents is performed digitally, taking into account the transformer’s voltage ratio and the current transformer ratios. The phase difference between the currents of the individual windings is also corrected digitally through operations on the instantaneous values of the secondary currents.
