The SZR-APC (automatic source changeover) system is an electrical protection and automation system designed to switch the power supply to a standby or backup power supply in the event of a power failure on the main power supply line. The standby source may be another power grid, whilst the emergency source may be a generator set.
Features and application
Discover the key features of the product that influence its effectiveness. Find out where its application is best and why it is worth choosing.
automatic switching of the power supply between the main power supply and the backup source, which may also be a generator
the ability to adjust the delay time of the automatic transfer switch (ATS) in response to a power failure and restoration to the operating time of the ATS in switchgears, as well as the time settings of the protective devices
automatic start-up of the generator
automatic switchover back to the main power supply and shutdown of the generator after a preset run-down time
mutual electrical and software interlocks, and any mechanical interlocks on the actuators, before switching the power sources to parallel operation
manual local control of actuators
fire safety (emergency) shutdown – local and/or remote – of power sources using the "main power switch"
visual indication of the presence of correct supply voltages, the position (open/closed) of the main circuit breaker contacts, the activation of the fire (emergency) shutdown, and the correct operation of the automation system for the automatic transfer switch
testing of circuit breaker protection functions
check that the position of the actuator contacts is correctly mapped
Options
In addition to basic configurations for Automatic Transfer Switching (ATS) systems, we offer systems precisely tailored to the customer’s requirements for up to five actuators. A key innovation of the ATS systems manufactured by Apator Control is the ability to connect them to actuators from companies such as EATON ELECTRIC (IZM, NZM); SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC (NW, NT, NS); OEZ (WL, BL, BH, BD), as well as others following consultation with the customer. Our devices are manufactured for a specific switching configuration. In the event of a change to the diagram, our service team updates the logic unit’s software without the need for any changes to the wiring. At the customer’s request, we also implement additional operating capabilities for the ATS (Automatic Transfer Switching) system, such as permitting parallel operation of transformers (solely and exclusively upon deliberate activation by the user, provided the requirements for parallel operation are met) or, for example, the option to disconnect power to certain loads during the power supply from the backup source.
