Examples of DC drive solutions

DSL DC drive units

These are control cabinets fitted with DML thyristor DC drives (manufactured by Apator) or Mentor MP drives (manufactured by Control Techniques), as well as any other drive specified by the customer.
A typical DSL system consists of an enclosure housing a built-in thyristor converter, a fuse switch disconnector, a line reactor and switchgear and control equipment.
DSL drive units have an application where there is a need to regulate and stabilise the rotational speed of DC motors, in particular for:
- paper, sheet metal and film winding and unwinding systems;
- thyristor-excited synchronous motors;
- boring machines, lathes, milling machines, spindles and feed mechanisms of machine tools;
- metallurgical rolling mills;
- rolling mills and profile rolling mills;
- rubber mixers;
- motor test benches

DSZ extruder sets

Thyristor control cabinets are designed using DML or Mentor MP converters, or with circuits specified by the customer. The applications of these systems are in extruders – they are primarily intended for regulating the speed of the DC motor driving the screw.
Optionally, the enclosure can be designed as an operator control panel with operational visualisation on a graphic display panel or computer. It is possible to provide contactless temperature control of heaters using semiconductors, as well as control of cooling systems and auxiliary equipment, such as dosing units and conveyors.

We do not insist that our clients use the drives we offer, although this is the recommended approach as it allows for the optimal utilisation of their features within the solution being developed. However, recognising the importance of our clients’ standardisation requirements, we also design drive solutions using third-party drives.

Where such a migration is economically viable, we are certainly happy to make these changes, offering to replace DC drives with inverters or servo drives.

Yes, we can also provide control and monitoring systems for entire drive systems, based on reputable SCADA systems or, in some cases, our own proprietary software.
