Single-jet or multi-jet water meter – which type is best suited to a given installation?

Choosing the right vane-wheel water meter is crucial for measurement accuracy and the reliability of the entire system.

A single-jet water meter is a solution designed primarily for domestic installations with stable pressure and low water flow. Devices of this type are characterised by a simple design and high measurement accuracy at low flow rates.

A multi-jet water meter is suitable for blocks of flats and commercial premises where there are greater fluctuations in pressure and flow. Water is fed to the turbine in several jets, thereby evenly loading the impeller and ensuring stable, long-term consumption measurement regardless of hydraulic conditions.

When selecting a water meter, it is worth paying attention to the metrological class, nominal diameter and body material. These parameters affect durability and compliance with requirements.

How do you prepare a vane-wheel water meter for remote reading?

Modern utility management systems are increasingly using remote reading of water meters. In such cases, physical access to the device is not necessary – data can be collected automatically. New-generation vane-wheel water meters are factory-fitted for remote reading via communication interfaces. These allow for easy connection of wired or wireless modules.

Depending on the installation requirements, applications based on communication standards such as M-Bus, Wireless M-Bus or GSM can be used, ensuring full integration with reading and analytical systems.

During installation, care must be taken to ensure the correct flow direction and to maintain the required straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the water meter. This approach guarantees standards compliance and high measurement accuracy. In the case of modernising existing installations, it is possible to retrofit the devices with compatible communication modules, thereby enabling remote reading without the need to replace the entire water meter.
