Variable frequency drives

Variable frequency drives, commonly known as inverters, are used to control the rotational speed or torque of AC electric motors. By varying the frequency, they enable smooth speed control of motors, as well as gentle start-up and braking. By regulating speed, they enable a significant reduction in the energy consumption of the entire application. They are used across the entire industry. Depending on requirements and the precision of control needed, we offer various ranges of variable frequency drives, optimised in terms of cost and functionality for different applications. With appropriate control, it is also possible to implement positioning functions for the drive system.

Optimise the performance of your motors with variable frequency drives

Speak to an expert about selecting variable frequency drives, monitoring operating parameters and diagnosing drive issues in your system

What should you look out for when choosing a variable frequency drive?

Selecting the right variable frequency drive is crucial for its subsequent correct operation and affects the payback period for the purchase. Therefore, the purchasing decision requires not only analyses of technical parameters such as the motor’s rated voltage and rated current or the operational overload capacity required of the motor, but also a review of other control elements and the drive’s internal features, which may affect the safety of the installation and personnel. Here are a few of them:

  • features – consider how you wish to control the motor, what control functions the drive itself should perform directly, and whether it is useful to employ an internal PLC controller;
  • safety – check whether any certified safety functions are required for the intended application;
  • Compatibility with communication networks – check whether the drive can be connected to the communication network in use.

If you are unsure whether a particular variable frequency drive is the right choice for your application, please contact us. We will help you make a decision and support you through the subsequent stages of implementation.
