Softstarters

The softstarters we offer are designed to provide a controlled and smooth start-up for AC motors, limiting the starting current and reducing mechanical shocks that could damage the driven equipment. By limiting the starting current, they reduce the load on the mains supply during motor start-up. By reducing mechanical and electrical stresses, they extend the service life of the driven equipment and protect the mains supply.

Talk to an expert about choosing softstarters

Find out how a controlled start-up can extend the service life of your drives

What should you look out for when choosing a softstarter?

Softstarters act as a system for controlling start-up and stop. When selecting a softstarter, the following should be taken into account:

  • the expected multiple of the starting current relative to the rated current – this is the current required to start the motor under load;
  • start-up duration – the expected time taken for the motor to complete start-up at a limited start-up current;
  • start-up frequency – check whether the given duty cycle is suitable for the specific softstarter;
  • control system – check which input and output signals are required for the specific application and whether additional optional modules need to be used.

If you are unsure whether a particular soft starter is the right choice for your installation, please contact us. We will help you make a decision and support you through the subsequent stages of implementation.
