DC drives

DC drives are used for the precise control of the speed and torque of DC motors. Their application is broad throughout industry, although they are gradually being replaced by solutions based on AC motors or servo motors. The latest generation of drives combine classic thyristor control of the rectified voltage – which determines the motor’s rotational speed – with modern communication networks and a computer interface.

DML drive

DC digital drives (15–600 A)

DML przekształtniki tyrystorowe (15-600 A)
  • The application of electrically isolated thyristor modules ensures that the enclosure and heat sink are at neutral potential

  • All operating states are indicated by LED indicators

  • In DML/MJ and MN drives, the presence of excitation current is monitored

What should you look out for when choosing a DC drive?

Selecting the right DC drive is crucial for its subsequent correct operation. Therefore, the purchasing decision requires not only analyses of technical parameters such as armature voltage and current or motor excitation, and the overload capacity required for operation, but also verification of other control elements and the drive’s internal features, which may affect the safety of the installation and personnel. Here are a few of them:

  • features – one must consider how the motor is to be controlled, which control functions the drive itself is to perform directly, whether it is useful to employ an internal PLC controller, and what type of speed feedback the motor has;
  • Compatibility with communication networks – check whether the drive can be connected to the communication network in use.

If you are unsure whether a particular DC drive is the right choice for your application, please contact us. We will help you make a decision and support you through the subsequent stages of implementation.
