Frequently Asked Questions
Documentation required for the configuration of telemechanics equipment:
1. General layout diagram of the station or, alternatively, separate diagrams of the HV, MV and LV switchgears.
2. Telemechanics block diagram – digital connections between IEDs in the telemechanics system, including: device types, standards, communication port numbers and the communication protocols used.
3. List of signals (signalling, control, measurement) to be transmitted to SCADA control systems. The list must include the expected wording of control and alarm output texts to appear in the dispatcher’s log, as well as the measuring ranges displayed on the diagrams. Furthermore, for each item on the list, the IT source of the signal must be specified (device name, network address, communication protocols, input/output number, signal identifier). In particular, for signals fed directly (via contacts) into the controller/station concentrator, the input/output number in the device must be provided. However, for signals from devices connected digitally to the controller/station concentrator, the signal code corresponding to the protocol in use must be specified. Thus, for a given protocol, the following must be provided:
− the register number for the Modbus protocol
− signal number and function type (Function Type and Information Number) in the IEC 60870-103 protocol
− index/address for the protocol
− codes for the SPA protocol
Documentation required for configuring the protection systems:
1. Schematic diagrams of the secondary circuits, including terminal markings.
2. Graphical screen diagrams for field terminals.
3. Description of protection applications for specific types of fields.
4. Descriptions of non-standard automation algorithms.
5. A list of signals for telemechanics, which should include the user-defined text for control and alarm outputs to be displayed in the device log.
6. A list of signals, measurements and control commands transmitted to the dispatch system with clearly defined texts.
7. Description/specification of the communication protocol.
8. A list of protection functions and automation controls with specified setting values for individual fields.
9. Descriptions of the programmable indicator lights on the protection panel.
